• Volunteer Coordinator

    The Position

    The Salem Pantry is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to administer TSP’s volunteer programming across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Partnerships (DPP), the Coordinator position ensures a successful volunteer experience from recruiting to onboarding and training, to event scheduling and communications. The Coordinator is the lead staff member establishing systems and protocols including registration, data collection, reporting, and incorporating volunteer feedback.

    Responsibilities

    • Be the primary liaison between TSP and our volunteers, including recruiting, onboarding, training, and providing ongoing support.
    • Coordinate with TSP staff in Programs, Logistics, and Administration to ensure the volunteer program meets ongoing TSP organizational needs. Ensure staff are prepared to host volunteers and uphold safety guidelines related to the volunteer tasks.
    • Administrate volunteer management platform, providing weekly and monthly reporting.
    • Attend warehouse and distribution events where volunteers are working to ensure the quality of volunteer training, site safety for volunteers, and validity of volunteer services.
    • Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to provide timely communication and outreach to pantry guests and volunteers.
    • Coordinate with the DPP to maintain strong relationships with external partners, including representing the organization at community events.

    Qualifications The qualified candidate will:

    • Be bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred).
    • Have strong interpersonal skills including excellent listening, public speaking, and oral and written communications skills. Demonstrable experience in working with volunteers, including team building and motivating teams to succeed.
    • Exhibit capacity to work in a multicultural workforce, including sensitivity and competence with individuals and groups of diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Have demonstrated the ability to be well-organized, set work priorities, track and evaluate projects, develop and maintain reports or databases, and meet deadlines.
    • Possess technological proficiency, including CRM or volunteer management software and Microsoft Office suite.
    • Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all seasons, work in various settings including our food warehouse and at mobile pantry locations.
    • Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
    • Exhibit a commitment to and passion for The Salem Pantry mission.
    • Have the ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
    • Have access to a car (mileage reimbursement included).

    Compensation

    The Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position with a starting annual salary range from $50,000 to $55,000. (Benefits include healthcare reimbursement, 401(k) plan with organizational match & paid time off policy).
